Terso starts with a simple idea: bring together what you really use in an editor, give it room to breathe and make it comfortable. Simplicity comes from choosing well: a complete set of tools for everyday work, in a modern, carefully considered space.
01 / 02
Files side by side. One shared rhythm.
Keep two files in view and use synchronized scrolling to move through them together.

TXT / CODE
Your code, in its own colours.
Syntax highlighting follows the file language. Switch between these illustrative fragments to see the difference.
Fold code blocks and unfold only what you need. Current-block and fold-all actions keep larger files easier to navigate.

WINDOWS + WSL
Your Windows editor. Your WSL folders.
Open WSL folders through the Windows file picker and keep working with their UNC paths.
Terso Trash does not cover WSL paths.

02
Your folders, within reach
Browse local drives, registered WSL distributions and your chosen folders in one explorer.
A closer look
Expand only what you need, filter the tree, edit exclusions and cancel searches. Bring a folder to the top as a root, move the explorer to either side or tuck it away.

Markdown, from source to page
Write in Code and read in Document, or keep both visible in linked split views.
A closer look
Navigate an outline, edit tables and include formulas and supported flow or sequence diagrams. Export standalone offline HTML. Remote resources and executable HTML stay blocked; local resources need your folder permission.

Make the space your own
Follow the system theme or choose light or dark. Pick bundled Cascadia Code, JetBrains Mono or Fira Code, adjust text size and toggle word wrap. Settings share the workspace while preserving open documents, so the tools fit around the way you like to work.
Pick up where you left off
Optional local continuation keeps tabs and drafts without automatic expiry, subject to resource limits and sensitive-file exclusions. It never saves over originals or restores undo history across restarts. Terso’s own trash restores without overwriting and never empties itself; it works on local NTFS within the same volume.
Real files, handled with care
Open and save with native Windows dialogs, or use Save all for your changed documents. Encoding choices, byte protection and conflict detection help preserve your work. Reorder tabs, rename files in place and keep each document’s editing history together.
Everyday editing, with depth
Find and replace, edit with multiple cursors, move or sort lines and adjust indentation. Format code locally, validate JSON/JSONC/YAML and edit CSV/TSV in a table. Work with different files or linked views of one document, side by side or stacked, with independent cursors and optional scroll sync.
Your work stays local
Edit without an account, built-in sync or content telemetry. Formatting, spelling dictionaries, fonts, formulas and diagrams are bundled locally. Session continuation is optional, and you choose whether to send feedback. Component licences are available to read offline in Settings.
Write in your own language
Use the interface in English, Spanish, Italian, French or Portuguese. Optional offline spell-checking offers 43 language and regional variants, chosen independently of the interface, with suggestions and a personal dictionary. Look up actions and key combinations in searchable shortcut help.
CSV · TSV · JSON · YAML
From raw data to a clear table.
Edit CSV and TSV as a table. Format and validate JSON or YAML locally, without sending your files away.
